Learn with us

Facilitation is a practice

Like any practice, it develops through experience, reflection and learning with others. These are the areas of practice we are exploring together.

The Learning Journey

Foundations first, then a growing set of modules. Foundations covers the core moves — framing what is being decided, holding the room while it is worked, and closing so the work does not evaporate. Each module goes further into one kind of work.

Areas of practice

  1. Foundations

The core moves, for anyone who convenes people: framing what is being decided, holding the room while it is worked, and closing so the work does not evaporate.

  2. Working with disagreement

What to do when a group's disagreement is the work rather than an interruption to it.

  3. Designing participation

Choosing the format, the sequence and the constraints that let a group of any size actually contribute.

Community events

Open evenings where practitioners bring a real case and work it together. No talks and no panels — a case, a group, and the practice of thinking about it out loud.
